Since
the formation of societies individuals or group of people have been
sought to reform mankind depressed or neglected due to any communal
or social disruption. Preventive efforts were made to facilitate
the mankind. In virtually every society people strive for better
so that future generations may have a chance to exploit their talents.
But in the countries where circumstances are unfavorable especially
due to conflicts, corruption or crumbling political system, the
most vulnerable are children. The inequalities they face by the
adults due to their behavior are unimaginable in many ways. Children
are vulnerable and they are the most deprived sector in any setting,
urban or rural, listless in their existence especially those
who have no access to easy or good side of life and are subject
to cruel treatment
The
term "street children" describes neglection, deprivation, lack of
attention and unfavorable circumstances, wandering from one place
to another in the peer groups. UNICEF defines street children in
a different way: children who live and work on the streets because
their families need money to survive, orphaned and/or abandoned.
Their frustration and disappointment leads them to a state where
they find comfort in glue sniffing, stealing or any sort of crime
through which they could make- up for their requirements. They live
in an environment detrimental to their vital signs. Their social
or economic state compels them to involve in anti-social activities
and they suffer critical diseases due to sexual and moral abuse
and drugs. They are deprived directly or indirectly of the necessary
and appropriate relationships with mainstream social institutions
that traditionally provide sources of support and ensure an individual's
well being and happiness in the society. The phenomenon of street
children arose due to the economic and social problems as well as
the epidemic spread of diseases and occurrences of natural disasters.
