NON-FORMAL EDUCATION

The non-formal education department of DIC, is basically working not only for educating street children but also to develop behavior in them. It helps them to solve their daily problems due to dirt, addiction, illiteracy and diseases. In the center they are provided the environment of study, as well as to make them learn how to be a good citizen and how to survive and get adjusted in a society as a responsible citizen. Lectures arearranged on hygiene, addiction prohibition and saving income. Acting is the new phenomenon for regular students 'Prohibiting addiction' is the theme of the play. Saving Box is arranged to save money of students. It will help them to purchase whatever they desire or arrange party on regular basis

Non Formal Education focus on two categories of children

  • b. Story comprehensive
  • c. Islamiat (oral)
  • d. General Knowledge (oral)
  • e. Counting

Regular children

  • a. General Knowledge (oral)
  • b. Sums of addition and subtraction (oral-written)
  • c. Islamiat
  • d. Art
  • e. Counting f. Story making (for developing behavior)

Psycho-social Counseling

The programs of psycho-social counseling are designed for vulnerable childrens to deal with their emotional and behavioral problems. Purpose is to help them in order to solve their emotional problems and improve their living style. Their major emotional problems are anxiety, depression, elated mood, hyperactivity, low self esteem, lack of concentration and Addiction.

Psychological services are divided into:

  • Assessment
  • History taking interview.
  • Individual counseling / therapy
  • Group counseling

Therapeutic techniques that were used:

  • Probing: Most of clients are in probing stage.
  • b. Behavior Modification: Through reinforcement
  • Verbal reinforcement: like Good, keep it up, its nice.
  • Non verbal reinforcement: like shake hands taping and smiling.
  • Drawing used as recreational activities and express emotions.
  • Story telling techniques: story related to their life problems and they associate themselves with it.
  • Cognitive restricting. Daily records of dysfunctional thoughts.
  • Anger management

Multi model therapy plan for future are:

  • Social skill training. " Main streaming.
  • Self management
  • Interventions for addictions
  • Daily exercise
  • Relaxation technique
